Achilles tendon ruoture/re-rupture ?

1.5 years after Haglund surgery (Achilles detached,spur removed Achilles re-attached with anchors), I had full-thickness tear of the Achilles tendon with the tendon stump retracted superiorly by approximately 4.4 cm from its calcaneal insertion site. Allograft was performed. Now 3 weeks after Allograft surgery, while non-weight bearing (ankle casted in neutral position no wedges) Achilles tendon re-ruptured again while at resting position. MRI shows complete full thickness tear of Achilles tendon from its insertion and is retracted 4.5 cm. I was reading about AT ruptures and found that ruptures are common in the watershed band but not common in insertion site. What could be causing this?

DocPod 		Its hard to say without an examination and knowing a lot more detail re the actually surgical technique used - but the Haglunds surgery would have put your tendon at increased risk for this happening.
