Severe Swollen/Painful Toe ?

i have what I believe is a very infected big toe that has a bump on the side of it which has been there for a few months. I went to a walk in clinic and I have an appointment with a podiatrist on Friday but wanted a second opinion if this was in bad enough shape to go to an emergency room.

have a picture if it helps

If it severely red and swollen, then its an infection and can't wait until friday.
The other option is gout.
