Normal pain or possible further tear of plantar fascia ?

I have a small tear in the fascia + 50% thickened plantar fascia,
Not run for 4 weeks, but have been increasing walking by a little each day. I have been doing heel raises with towel every other day + calf stretches. I felt as though I had been improving gradually each day with less pain when walking, but the past 24 hours the pain seems to have gone back to what it was a few weeks ago and it is now too uncomfortable to walk. I am concerned I may have torn it again or made the tear worse. I didn't feel any tear happen yesterday, but I never felt the tear that I was diagnosed with happen. Why do you think the pain has returned as it was weeks ago ?
Also, is it safe to continue walking and doing the heel raises or could I be risking making things worse and fully rupturing ?
Your advice is hugely appreciated.

Improvement in symptoms is never a "straight line"; it will always be up and down, but hopefully on average it is an improvement.
Just keep doing what you are doing. Increase activity levels as the pain allows.

For a partial tear to go to a full rupture, some pretty drastic has to happen, so it is pretty unusual.
