Plantar Fasciitis near ball of foot?

I am currently experiencing pain in what i believe is my plantar fascia. It started two days ago as mild cramping, and now has swollen into a knot just below (or behind, if you prefer) the ball of my foot. The pain is not excruciating, but it is constant, and forces me to limp. I have had plantar fasciitis before, but it was closer to the heel, and most sources i have researched have indicated PF as being pain near the heal. My question is, is this likely plantar fasciitis, just in a less common spot on the foot? or is it likely something else? I have also been nursing a knee injury, which likely made me change my gait for a few weeks. is it possible this has contributed to my foot pain? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It sounds very unlike plantar fasciitis
Pain in that region can be due to many different things and based on your description it is virtually impossible to know with more detail or seeing it.
