Plantar Tear and Plantar Fasciitis ?
After suffering with plantar fasciitis for 6 months and trying everything - running on soft ground, night boot, massage, stretches - I visited a podiatrist as the pain had recently got worse and more constant. He did an ultrasound and said I had Plantar fasciitis (fascia was double the thickness it should be), + I also had a small tear. I was told to completely rest for 2 weeks which I have done and to stop stretching and massaging the foot and to not use the night boot / splint and stop rolling it on a lacrosse ball to prevent further tearing. I was told to start heel raises with a towel every other day- double leg and not told anything else, then 2 weeks alter double leg assisted single leg version. At 6 weeks I could potentially run again. I am at the 2 week point and have just started doing the heel raises. My question is should I restart the night boot / splint, massage, lacrosse ball rolling and other foot and calf stretches I was doing ? Thank you.
