What do these foot symptoms indicate?

Sounds strange, but when I walk, I involuntarily clutch, or grab, with the 2nd and third toes of the left foot. Those toes feel sort of numb or tingling, where they meet with the foot. I can't seem to walk (in shoes) unless I perform this clutching movement, even when purposely trying to unclench my feet. My foot is painful after walking like this. (If it helps to arrive at an answer, my other foot has Achilles' tendonitis, and I'm overweight and in my 50s. I do wear supportive (New Balance athletic) shoes, though it doesn't matter what type of shoes I try, as I always behave the same way when walking. However, when walking barefoot, I tend to clench the left toes less often.)

Most likely its a mortons neuroma, or maybe even plantar plate dysfunction (less likely). Both usually initially need a metatarsal dome just behind the metatarsal head to help.
