Will my heel pain, in both feet, ever go away?

I'm a 71 year old male. And both of my feet are a mess. I had gastroc release plantars fasciitis surgery 5 months ago. Developed heel pain in both feet. I'm told by a podiatrist, the heel pain, in both feet, is a result of wearing post-surgical boot. Said the pain would eventually go away. When I walk around bare-footed, it feels like I'm walking on hard stones. Very uncomfortable. One night I got up out of bed and temporarily I was in so much pain I could not walk. I have a good pair of walking shoes with heel inserts that helps get me around, but still uncomfortable pain. Seeing a physical therapist along with podiatrist. My podiatrist injected one of my feet with cortisone 4 days ago. I see no difference in my pain and hard stone walking feeling at this point. My orthopedic surgeon who performed the gastroc release said my condition is neuropathy. "sorry, can't do anything about it", and left me hanging. I don't believe, and neither doe's my podiatrist, that my heel pain's was coincidental to the surgery. That in fact the surgery triggered the heel pains. At this point , "the surgery cure for plantars fasciitis is worse than the disease." Will my heel pains ever go way? Will I ever get back to normal? .

I think you need another opinion with imaging to make sure that is really is plantar fasciitis and just what tissue is damaged.
