Toe joint pain ?

Hello Doc, I need some advice if possible!! Basically I had some pain on dorsal aspect of the left foot around the joint line of the 1st Metatarsal from last week (wed). I run marathons and Ultras. I went to my podiatrist and was guided to do an ultrasound. All turned out good with no indication of wear or anything bad.. The doc said I might have a low grade inflammation. The toes does feel a bit stiff, and with walking the pain soothes. I have been on catafast for the last 4 days, yet I still have pain (3-4 from 10). I have a 50Km race this Sat.. what should I do?

Its probably too late to do much for the race on Saturday.

Typically problems like yours respond well to something like the Hoka One One running shoes due to the rocker motion of the forefoot in them. However, would not recommend them for the 50k until you have spent time getting used to them
