Why do my arches cramp when I workout?

I've been attending a workout class 3x/week for the last 2 years. When we do plyometrics, or certain balance exercises, the arches of my feet feel like they are cramping up (sometimes my calves too). I slow down and jog in place, or side step until the arch relaxes.

At first I thought I just needed to get stronger... but for gosh sakes- it's been 2 years now- and sometimes I think it's getting worse! I went to GoodFeet and got arch supports but that doesn't seem to help. I think my shoes are long enough. My feet are not flat. My knees are also sore. Help! what can I do? Do I need better arch support? Do I need to go to bare feet? This is impacting my workout.

This is a tough one and I can see no obvious answer to give you. What is your generaly health like? Have you had a history of cramping prior to these episodes?

I do take blood pressure medication (not water pills) to keep my BP normal, hypo-thyroid and cholesterol, and I am significantly overweight (but not obese- per the 30% over ideal definition), but in spite of this I consider myself healthy. My resting heartrate is in the low 60s or high 50s. I go to a BootCamp type class 3x pre week that consists of jogging, jumping, and weighted exercises. I also have a regular 6 mile walk I do once or twice a week (in about 1.5 hours) and I do heavy weight lifting once a week, and a few other miscellaneouds things. My feet cramp mostly when I'm doing extended jumping jacks, knee tucks, jumping hurdles, rope or other jumping exercises. sometimes when I'm jogging, but not as much. I havent' had a history of cramping in other parts of my body.
