What should I do about a stress fracture that I don't have a boot for? Do you think limping around is enough?

A few weeks ago I was practicing dance and landed on the side of my foot wrong. I think I got a stress fracture in the fifth metatarsal bone. I haven't been to a doctor so I don't have a boot. I've been soaking my foot in cold and hot water to help it heal and I've been limping and taking bone meal. Do you think this is enough to heal it? I've also been still flexing my toes and rolling my ankles. Do you think this will impede healing? I have a pair of crutches if it is necessary.

A stress fracture is a type of fracture that occurs slowly over time, so its unlikely that this is what you have as you landed awkwardly. Without x-rays and a clinical exam its going to be difficult to know what you have. The best advice I can give, is if it is improving with what you are doing, then keep doing it and you should be fine. If it is not improving within a day or two, then get off to the doc.
