My partner has these red spots on his toe that look like pictures I have seen of chilblains. I read that this can also be a problem in COVID-19. How do you tell the difference?
Yes, there is a link between chilblains and covid-19. However, its still a chilblain and a chilblain is a chilblain and should be treated as a chilblain. All that is happening is that the chilblains are more common in those with COVID-19. This could be because something physiologically about the COVID-19 predisposes to chilblains or the change in lifestyle (eg more lock-downs in centrally heated homes) is the reason for the more chilblains.
There is nothing different known at this stage between the "normal" chilblain and a chilblain in COVID-19 except for the diagnosis of the COVID-19.
