I've been treating a corn between my big toe and second toe with corn remover, soaking in epsom salts and covering with moleskin while wearing shoes. The pain is getting worse thru my whole toe. what can a podiatrist do for me

A corn is due to too much pressure causing the skin to thicken and become painful due to that thickness. Corn removers, soaks etc might remove some of the skin, but they do not remove the pressure (ie the cause). If you want the corn gone, you need to remove the cause.

If it is getting worse, then there is a risk that there is an infection present.

A podiatrist will remove the thickened skin to give immediate symptomatic relief (which will return in time given that the cause will still be there). They will discuss what options there are for removing the cause.

Have a look at this:

Yes, what Doc said - you need to get rid of the cause.
and they don't have roots!
