I have had gout for 20 years and recently developed pain in my heels. Can you get gout there? I did a search and could not find much information except this: http://www.goutonline.net/showthread.php?t=1835
Yes Gout can affect the heels and that forum on heel pain in gout is right. However, in my experience that in most cases the heel pain is not related to the gout and is just the regular type of plantar fasciitis. Its is usually just a coincidence that they occur together.
Heel pain caused by gout is not common or is very common depending on who you talk to. Any atypical or typical heel pain that does not respond to the standard treatments should consider gout in the many differential diagnosis’s available. If the heel pain is due to gout, it should respond rapidly to a short course of colchicine.
