What irritates it more ? I would have thought standing would be worse, but after periods of sitting down it seems more painful when getting up to move, than after standing. I have a standing desk, so I can do either or swap between the two, but wanted to know which one should I do less of ?

When you rest, the arch of the foot relaxes and the plantar fascia "shortens"; when you first put the put down on the ground, for those first few steps it is painful as that plantar fascia "stretches" out.
It is sometimes called 'post-static dyskinesia'
It is kinda like that normal morning stiffness that all body tissues have first thing in the morning until you move a little.
