What information would be helpful?

I have bunions. One caused a significant amount of pain so I opted to have it removed. The X-ray done prior to surgery showed some arthritis in the big toe joint. After bunion removal, the surgeon said when he made the incision it “exploded with inflamed tissue” and he then understood “why I elected to have surgery.” He said “your foot was angry” and the “arthritis in the joint is much more severe than what was shown on the X-ray.”

The amount of pain I have experienced since surgery in mid-February is significant. My podiatrist said this is abnormal and suspected it was a flare up of my arthritis. A few weeks ago I asked for a referral to have acupuncture as I don’t know what to do to alleviate this pain. The pain is completely different than the pain I experienced prior to surgery. I was told I’d need to be seen three times before a referral for acupuncture would be given. At my first appointment a new X-ray was taken. This X-ray showed ”abnormal bone changes”. My appointment with the podiatrist was scheduled for about a month out. Once my primary doctor forwarded the X-ray to my podiatrist, his office called to see if I could come is ASAP instead of in a month. At this appointment is when I was shown the new X-ray. There is a moon shaped chunk of bone missing from the joint where the bunion was removed. My podiatrist said “this is weird”. He couldn’t tell me why this would happen. I had blood work done to rule out a possible bone infection. Now that my blood work shows no sign of infection he says it’s “less likely to be a bone infection”. Doesn’t sound like a for-sure answer. I don’t have symptoms of an infection. No fever. He said I don’t have gout. I have no symptoms except for significant pain in my foot. Pain that is completely different than the pain I had before surgery.
