Hello, I hope there is an easy answer to this...
I have been having some toenail problems in the past 1.5 years or so. I do not do any jogging, but I do walk about 2.5 miles a day. Please check the link provided there are pics of the affected toes.
I did see a Dr. in Lebanon when I went with my wife for a family visit about 3 months ago... he told me I must be deficient in some minerals, especially selenium. I have been taking some very good mineral / vitamin supplements for about 50 days or so... but seems not really to make a big diff.
The big toe is the left foot which is getting blood under the toenail for seemingly no reason other than the walking. I trimmed it back as you can see. It seems that the toenails come up off the nail bed for no reason.
I included a pic of the shoes because I am suspecting maybe the shoes might be incorrect for walking longer distances. My mom was diabetic, but she did not have specific foot/toe problems and I have no signs of diabetes, but just fyi.

Might you have some insight?

Its not selenium deficiency!
The nail has been damaged somehow; yes possibly by the shoe.
There is not a lot that can be done except keep it trimmed back.
