I am a ballet dancer and bruised my big toenails around July. I have been continuing my dance classes on pointe, though when I am using protection [tape and cushioning gel] I feel no extreme discomfort save for perhaps some difficulty balancing on one foot. Without these protections, however, I wear out very quickly. I need to heal my toenail as fast as I can, because I am nearing competition season. I have noticed a horizontal line across my toenails where one surface is raised higher than the other, presumably due to the blood underneath my toenail. What would you recommend? [I have linked to a website with photos of my toes].
There is no quick way. The bruise will grow out with nail growth and that takes as long as it takes.
However, if there is a build up of blood under the nail causing pressure, then that needs to be relived and drained. See a podiatrist. That area of blood in the photo can by durred down to reduce the thickness.
