I was done ankle mobilization (traction of upper ankle joint) by a trainee in a podiatry clinic. My lateral ankle capsule and lateral instep in front of it got clearly painful and sore after that. Not right away but starting on my way home from the clinic.
It´s been already three months after this, but especially ankle capsule gets still sore. My physiotherapist said that it´s soft tissue soreness and ankle capsule soreness. But he didn´t admit that mobilization technique was in any way wrong. Trainee pulled my calcaneus towards herself with quite strong and sudden pulls, not with slow and firm pulls.
I myself still believe that the technique was wrong and I wasn't taken safely care of during trainee working under the guidance of the physiotherapist.
Can someone place an opinion, if the technique was risky and not orthodox or safe and done right?
Without seeing it it is hard. Best guess, might be some sort of damage to the joint surface.
Its not clear exactly what manipulation was done, so I really not sure on that.
