Lateral column overload ?

I have very high arches and have just received custom-made orthotics to try and help with the pain I feel in my feet but they have yet to start working. I have had the orthotics for about 3 weeks now. The pain I get is what I think is called lateral column overload - it hurts on the outer sides of my feet. I don't get the pain during a normal work day where I'm just walking around completing errands but it occurs every time I put my running shoes on and go for a walk. I can't even walk ten minutes any longer without my feet aching in that area. It feels like they are in clamps or vices and I often have to stop and let my feet rest before going on. The other time this pain comes on is when I have my work boots on out in the garden. I have put my orthotics in them too but I still get this pain.
My podiatrist said I have high arched feet that act like flat feet - he said my feet are not a common type at all. And my feet feel a bit stiff as well - as if they need a really good massage or like they need to be cracked somehow!
What else can I do to get this pain to go away? I need to be able to walk longer than ten minutes! Is there something else that could be causing this pain besides the high arches?
Thankyou very much.

I would have expected that foot orthotics would have at least started to help by now, so they need to be re-evaluated.

Think 'cuboid syndrome'. if it is, then it need mobilizing.

Okay, thankyou very much for that suggestion. I will head to the physio and see what they think of that. I googled cuboid syndrome and it sounds very much like what I have.
