Ingrown toenail help ?

after having ingrown toenails for a little bit i am now left with a curved shape in my nail (if u look at it front on it looks like a small 'n' shape) i would like to know ways of how to get rid of it at home before having to get surgery if needed at all. Any ideas welcome please help. I would like to have a straight nail or at least a straighter nail after treatment and it hinders my self confidence. I would really appreciate the help.
I have looked up home treatments but they arent that common and dont really give a clear answer but they have suggested soaking my foot in tea tree oil and lavender is this a good idea??
