How to stop the loss of the cushion of ones feet, to the point where the bone is starting to show ?

My friend went to have her feet checked, and found out that she needs to wear orthopedic shoes, but she can't seem to get them covered by her insurance company because she is not diabetic. Moreover, She cannot afford to pay 500.00 for shoes, she's on a very fixed income. So how can she stop the losing of her the fatty part of her right foot, and from the bone to be slowly coming through?

DocPod 		You can't.
All you can do is 'substitute' for it with padding.
If the footwear is our of reach, then consider silicone gel pads under the ball of the foot.
