I had surgery on my broken toe - it isn't healing now doctor says to have surgery again ?

4 months ago I had surgery on the toe next to my big one for a broken toe. The bone was hitting my tendon. She took the bone piece out. It is not healing and doctor says it will not. If I am active I have to stay off from it for awhile sometimes a day and it can bother me longer. It swells, turns red, burns and hurts if I'm on it for extended periods.

My question...if I don't have surgery will it not get any better? If I have surgery again what are the chances it will get worse? I'm not getting decisive answers from doctor.

What is happening...the tendons and ligaments were suppose to grow in between where the bone was taken out and fuse it together. It is not. One side is going up the other down. She said that if I have the surgery the rod would stay in for 6 weeks instead of 3 and be in a larger cast.

DocPod 		Its hard to say without seeing an x-ray and seeing why exactly its not healing.
Do you have the x-ray? Can you post it on an image sharing site and post a link to it?
